As has been mentioned, Dave was often serving others as well as looking for ways to help. It didn't matter the size or length of the job, Dave would see it through. Dave reached out and knew so many people. I remember during the college days he was always on his way to help someone (yes, sometimes a girl), but as often, any of us that needed assistance. I also remember him being there for many friends and family in the tough times, such as losing a loved one. I hope we all can do the same.
In fact, Dave was so willing he couldn't turn down anyone, he couldn't say no. I would sit back and be entertained by all the activities to which he would commit. Everyone wanted Dave at their functions and once invited, he would want be there. He had so many activities stacked in one evening that Superman himself could not get to all of them. He did however, make it to nearly every one, albeit, a little fashionably late most of the time.
It came as no surprise that Dave was on his way to another service project as the accident came. The last time I talked with Dave was a little over a week ago to get him to come to play bball again. That night he actually did say he couldn't make it. Why not? Again, he was helping others - this time at a friends house helping him get quills out of a dog that got tangled up with a porcupine.

Steve...great post. After reading all of these messages and what has been written, your message really sums up how Dave lived his life. Whether is was fun stuff or hard work, Dave was always up for anything.
